The safety and welfare of our staff, our subcontractors and the public in general remains the highest priority of the company.
It is the company’s policy to promote the highest standards of safety and to eliminate injury, loss or damage. We have implemented an OH&S Management System that forms the basis of the Project OH&S Management Plans used on all work sites.
Hines Constructions’ OH&S Management System and Policy are designed to:
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice.
- Eliminate injuries, loss or damage within the workplace.
- Provide employees with the resources and training that enables them to perform their duties in accordance with Hines Corporate & Project OH&S Management Plans.
- Provide risk management systems to enable hazards to be identified, assessed, controlled and monitored.
- Provide a mechanism for effective consultation on all work sites.
- Ensure all personnel are inducted prior to commencing work on site.
- Promote safety awareness and positive performance through education and training.
- Promote preventative health incentives for staff to support their health, safety and wellbeing.
- Provide disciplinary action against employees or subcontractors who disregard OH&S procedures.
- Provide resources for safety related incidents to be appropriately investigated and reported to prevent reoccurrence.
- Provide an effective Return to Work system for employees.
- Monitor, audit, review and evaluate the OH&S performance of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Undertake Site OH&S Audits within the time frames nominated in the Project OH&S Plan.
- Define Management and Employees responsibilities in relation to OH&S.
Through the implementation of a comprehensive OH&S Management System, Hines Constructions continues to maintain a strong safety culture within all aspects of their business activities.
Implementing environmentally sustainable work practices
Hines Constructions is committed to undertaking its business in a manner that recognises the importance of environmental protection and sustainability. The Company therefore has implemented an Environmental and Waste Management System that is the basis of all Project Management Plans used on all work sites.
This System complies with the NSW Government Environmental Management System Guidelines.
Hines Constructions’ Environmental and Waste Management Policy aims to address the need for environmental safeguards and the adoption of environmental sensitive work practices during the construction phase of a project. It is designed to:
- Manage environmental and related issues in accordance with any client requirements, policies and procedures.
- Provide management guidelines and measures which are clear and cost effective.
- Provide appropriate protection for the environment consistent with the level of risk applicable to the building and construction works.
- Apply waste minimisation principles and take all practical steps to prevent pollution and other adverse effects from our operations.
- Educate and train employees to continually improve awareness, skills and knowledge of environmental issues and practices.
- Establish, implement and review environmental performance measures internally and with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Implement effective communication with all stakeholders on environmental issues in the construction industry.
- Support ecologically sustainable development initiatives.
Site Managers engaged on the Company’s work sites implement the Project Environmental & Waste Management Plan.
Establishing and maintaining good industrial relations.
Hines Constructions is committed to ensuring that the Company complies with the NSW Government Industrial Relations Management Guidelines and legal obligations relating to employment.
The Company recognises the importance of establishing and maintaining good industrial relations with our employees and clients therefore we have implemented an Industrial Relations Procedure and Policy Manual.
Hines Constructions’ Industrial Relations Procedure and Policy Manual is based on:
- Providing fair and reasonable management of industrial issues.
- Expecting all interested parties to be fair and reasonable in all dealings.
- Maintaining an open relationship with our employees and other interested parties and unions.
